The Transition Is Real

In life, sometimes you don’t do what you desire to do. Sometimes you have to do what you just ‘gotta do’!

I was talking with my mom about something, and we got on the subject of how she thought my life would have taken a different course. My passion for film and media in college did not pan out the way she envisioned it. But I love my mom because she let me figure out my direction.

The truth of the matter is, when I left college, the Recession was happening. It was a bit more difficult than I had imagined but I actually fared better than most people I knew. And part of it I believe is because I was getting to a place where I was learning to trust God in the process. No longer could I follow my personal timeline of what I deemed would make me successful. No. God had me lay ALL of that down.

Unlike some, I actually found something to pay my bills. It wasn’t what I desired to do. It wasn’t what I went to school for. But it was something. And it allowed for me to grow in major ways. I was able to learn business and see up close what all of that was about. I was promoted into leadership and it challenged me in new ways. Plus, on top of all of that, I connected with some amazing, encouraging and supportive people.

And the funny thing is, that chapter has now come to a close. And some of those old dreams and desires have come back. But in new and different ways. And I know that, although it looked like I was off track, God had a plan all along. Even when it didn’t make sense to me. But my work isn’t done. I have to take all that I’ve learned now and apply it in new ways.

I’ve learned to be thankful in the process. I’m thankful for new doors and opportunities opening that will allow me to take new leaps. I’m glad to trust God’s plans over my own.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Jeremiah 29:11

This was the verse that played in my Spirit at the beginning of the year. It continues to ring true and I’m just convinced it’s the verse that’s going to get me through most if not all of 2020.

I want to encourage you, if you feel you’ve been off track, trust God. It’s never too late. And what seems like it is running out of time, God can multiply in no time. So, don’t worry about what has happened. Maybe certain situations forced you to make a different decision than you would have hoped, but you’re here now. You’re stronger than ever. And God isn’t done with that purpose that He placed inside of you. So, don’t be discouraged. Keep your head up and know that God has something so much bigger in store for you. Trust Him and put in the work that He needs you to do, so you’ll be fully prepared when that right door swings open.

Keep your crown up,
