Reignite Your Excitement For Life
What was your most ambitious year?
Mine was 2011. Almost a year after I graduated college, I was headed to Atlanta. I was going to make it. I’d sleep under the bridge if I had to. The city was beautiful. It was big in comparison to KC. It was vibrant. The men were fine! I was going to live my dreams in the growing movie industry there. Nobody could tell me anything besides what I was going to accomplish.
But let me tell you: Sis needed to find a job first and the recession was still knocking people down. I got what I could. I love the people I work with to this day. They are actually my life sisters now. But, suddenly, years go by. And while I’ve grown, learned more about business, become more confident, had great times, connected with amazing people, that same excitement was gone.
Has that happened to you? Have you lost your excitement? Have you forgotten how to dream, or have expectations for yourself?
A few weeks ago, I had a chance to reignite my fire. For a small birthday celebration some friends rented a yacht for a few hours. Connecting with my friends where we could be loose, have fun, and soak up the sun reminded me when I wanted my own yacht. I was reminded of a lot of things I used to dream about. In comparison to life itself they just seemed to not matter, so I let them go. But the excitement. The inspiration. The fun. Enjoying life. Appreciating the present. Being blessed in order to bless. I had become so consumed in just going day to day, I forgot about being filled with joy for what life had to offer.
Go to the car dealership and put your eyes on the car you desire. See yourself owning that business that gives a percentage back into the local community. Dream again about writing the screenplay and working with your favorite actors. See yourself on stage speaking about your first book. Envision the girl clutching her copy to her chest because you gave her hope again with your words. What excitement did life sweep from under you? These are the things that motivate you to work beyond yourself to accomplish the results. Whatever that is for you, step into it. See it. Feel it if you can. Research it. Know that when you put your head down to pray, being Holy Spirit led, with your motivating factors within, there’s not an obstacle you can’t overcome.
Dream again. Visualize. Believe it.
What are you dreaming for? What things have you forgotten about that you desire to get back to?
