Discover Growth In Your Discomfort
I went Live for the first time!
Like seriously, it’s a big deal. How was it? Oh, I was just scared out of my mind. Between you and I, I wrote out a little outline to help me before it started so I could remember my points. What I looked at on the paper would’ve been a good 15-minute discussion once I got into it and the initial jitters left.
About that, I actually stopped at 2:53. Not even a full 3 minutes. But hey, I did it!
When I was younger, I took acting lessons. I loved acting. Because even though I was very shy around new people, I could memorize a script and be fearless on stage. I stepped into my character and gave it my heart. Other kids’ parents would tell my teacher I was good. A casting director in Atlanta once told me I had a very natural raw talent.
But to be myself on camera, is completely nerve-wrecking. If you follow me consistently then you may be scratching your head. “Felicia, but you have a WHOLE YouTube channel”. You’re right if you said that. But again, there’s levels to this. My prepped outline and the assurance of editing help my confidence for YouTube. I also didn’t start off that great in YouTube, but I’ve found my footing a bit and I continue to get better. I’m not perfect, but I am growing in that area.
That’s why I knew I had to go Live. Because I was scared of it. And then God dropped that idea “Rewritten Fridays”. I attempted to ignore it 2 months ago. But you can’t run from God, especially when you keep asking Him what He desires for you to do consistently.
Let me ask you this, what are you running from?
Step out of your comfort zone. Push yourself. What is God asking you to do that you may think you are unqualified to do? It could be something small like going live. It could be something big. If it’s big ask yourself what’s something small that you can do now to work towards that big picture. Put the fear to the side. Step out and do it. You will be happy you did because when you embrace those uncomfortable areas, that’s where real growth happens. Trust me, it’s never as bad as it seems once you’re in it. But the longer you delay, the more doubt has the ability to creep. Do it. Go for it and don’t look back. You deserve to be the confident growing version of you. It’s already in you.
As you can tell, I get fearful and anxious time to time. One of my biggest fears, is not living up to my fullest potential. I know that if I don’t, it’s only because I got in my own way. So I’m learning to embrace the discomfort that comes with that territory. I encourage you to do the same, because the discomfort of regret is not what we were made for. We were made to thrive and go beyond our own limited capabilities. Are you ready to jump now?
Put it in the comments: Feel free to let me know something that you’ve been delaying but know you need to do. Let’s encourage one another!
Keep your crown up,
Felicia Morgan
