First Introductions Are Everything
As January begins to come to a close I realize it's been a developing chapter to start the new year off. New doors opening. God showing me more ways I need to trust Him. I don't even really remember what I did the other day, but it made me a bit disgusted with myself. I keep struggling with some of the same things. Things I thought I would've out grown keep resurfacing. Why?! I ask myself.
So, I was determined to really dive into personal development. Now, as someone who is single and been pursuing their relationship with God, I've already been personally developing. But God said give Him 6 months. For what?! I want to know. But I remind myself that area of trust is what I need to surrender. I don't have to figure it all out, just do and watch it unfold. That's part of the fun. So for 6 months just focus. Straight focus. Read the word, sharpen my craft, read some books. Not just the christian books, but books on business and leadership that I really need. Pick up tutorials and subscriptions that will help me sharpen certain skills. No worries about the future and what that detail entails. No attempting to figure out what's behind the next door. (I really need prayer in this area). But really just developing me. ME! Being a little more selfish. Just for a moment. It doesn't mean I'll be perfect when I'm done. But, if I can put real focus without distraction in these areas, I'll be proud and not disgusted with myself. And I may still feel I have a long way to go. But I'll be much better than today.
These are the actions it takes. Sometimes you have to separate from yourself to see the real outcome. It's easy to see friends that aren't being productive in our life once we wake up. But you gotta look at yourself, and know when it's time to cut that part off. Then you see the real outcome you've been looking for.
Are YOU still struggling in some areas? Join me:
1. Quiet Time: Have time set aside for God specifically. like a date you don't want to miss, and trust me, you don't. Just listen. Pray, praise, but mostly listen.
2. Read you Word: it will give you new insight. Especially if you pinpoint what the word has to say about your specific situations.
3. Read something specific to your gifts, area of interest or business. For me it's leadership. I have to stop assuming and being laid back. It's time I take charge and be bold and not backing out of confrontation.
4. Personal motivation/inspiration: Whether it's listening and watching videos on youtube or simply speaking affirmations in the mirror, you have to speak to you. Speak to that place in your life that you desperately need to change.
Journal it if you can, but really pay attention to the process. Have an accountability partner. If you need one, I'll be one 😊 Just let me know. We will win this together!!! First introductions are everything, but by God's grace we can change the pace of the rest of the year.
Now bring on chapter 2 of 2018!
