When God Doesn't Come Through

We’ve all had that moment in life. That moment where we prayed for a particular outcome, believing in faith that God would bring it to pass. We prayed daily, we meditated on God‘s Word, we quoted scripture in line with what we wanted. We did all the right things… obstacles came, we still believed.

“God is going to come through for me, I know it! I know it with my whole heart!” Fast forward - what breakthrough? No ma’am, it didn’t happen. That promotion didn’t come through. You didn’t get accepted to that school. That relationship did not work out. Your parents still got divorced. You still don’t have that child you’ve been praying for. It’s sad really. If you told anyone about what you were praying in faith about, you might even feel embarrassed on top of it. In essence, you feel like YOU PLAYED YOURSELF!

We’ve all had moments where we’ve felt disappointed by God. It can be really tough sometimes. In such moments, we’re not only tempted to feel bad about the outcome. We’re tempted to question our faith because it seems like God, if He exists, just does not care about us or our life situations. However, it’s in those moments we need to trust the most. It’s in those moments that we need to remember that His ways are not our ways and His thoughts are not our thoughts. It’s in those moments that we have to trust that God‘s best for us is waiting on the other side of that disappointment.

I don’t necessarily know what crisis you’re facing right now, but I can definitely relate because I’ve been there. I’m actually in it now. Many people like to talk about it after they’ve seen or understood why God allowed something bad to happen. However, I’m here to encourage you to keep trusting, even while I’m going through it, while you’re going through it. You may not see the outcome that God sees just yet, but I’m encouraging you to trust that if He’s allowed disappointment to enter into your life, there’s something bigger waiting for you on the other side of that disappointment. No matter how it feels to you, He loves you, He cares for you, and like any good parent, He wants the best for you. Trust Him, not your feelings or what you see. That’s true faith, believing when you can’t see any reason why you should.

In Hebrews 11:1, we find that “Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” Easier said than done right? Don’t worry. In Hebrews 11:6, we also find that those who come to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of them who diligently seek Him. So, I’m believing that God won’t let you down. I’m praying in faith that you keep on believing today, even when disappointment abounds. For the Christian, disappointment is never long. Joy comes in the morning!

Stay encouraged and blessed in Jesus’ name!
