Finding Purpose in Waiting

No one wants to hear about being refined, especially in the midst of darkness.

The lights bothered me, so I turned them off. I wasn’t tired, but my mind was foggy. I laid down and stared off into a distant memory.

Why couldn’t I have had a different path? A different story? A faster redemption?

The truth is, we all face our own challenges. I may not see it now, but I’m learning something. I’m gaining something for the journey ahead. I’m being refined.

No one wants to hear about being refined, especially in the midst of darkness. But I was reminded that even in my darkest moments, God is with me. Indeed, nothing is wasted.

The truth is, if we had what we wanted when we wanted it, we might not be as qualified:

  • To be the wife you imagined

  • An emotionally healthy mom

  • A confident business owner

  • A secure woman in your gifts

  • Certain in your goals

It’s easy to focus on the “why nots” and “what ifs,” especially when the path seems long and unclear. But remember, the waiting is not without purpose. Every moment of struggle, every challenge you face, is shaping you into the woman you’re meant to be. The daughter God called you to be. The delays, detours, and even disappointments are all part of a divine plan to prepare you for the roles you’re destined to fulfill.

So, the next time you find yourself questioning the path you’re on, take a moment to reflect on what you’re gaining in the process. It’s not always easy. But that step back can help you regain the right perspective. Embrace the refinement, knowing that it’s leading you toward a future where you are not just surviving but thriving in every aspect of your life.
