Death, Tests, and Difficult Times
It’s crazy.
I was thinking about writing this blog and then I thought maybe I should put it off for another week. Then suddenly the world was shaken with the passing of Kobe Bryant and his beautiful daughter Gianna.
I was saddened. I don’t even get into basketball, but I’ve always admired Kobe. His mindset, his attitude, his hunger, his work ethic, the way he humbled himself after a terrible mistake and was able to come back and restore his marriage, how everyone who said they made contact with him said he was so nice.
My heart goes out to his family.
I was already thinking of writing this because I’ve seen a quite a few people passing away. Fortunately, it’s been no one directly to me, but close enough to remind me of the preciousness of life. I was praying with others around the world for Pastor Tony Evans’ wife, Lois, before her passing. I know people personally who this month had a parent pass, and even seeing a few celebrities like The Rock, Stephen Curry, and Keri Hilson mentioning loved ones or friends crossing to the other side. I have just felt it near enough.
So, I pray as you read this, that you value today, you forgive others of offenses and know that the day or hour is not promised. That doesn’t mean be afraid. But it means just appreciate life. Don’t take too serious things that don’t matter. You can’t bring those name brands into heaven with you. Those extra hours at work could really make a better difference with your kid, at least one day out the week.
“But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.”
1 Corinthians 15:57
‘Lord please help us at this time!’ Be reminded that Jesus Christ gave us victory over death! So, don’t take this as a pass to not care or not give it your all. This should be a moment in time that you realize why it is so important to give life your very best!
“ LORD, remind me how brief my time on earth will be. Remind me that my days are numbered— how fleeting my life is. You have made my life no longer than the width of my hand. My entire lifetime is just a moment to you; at best, each of us is but a breath."
Psalm 39:4-5
No one is exempt. ALL of our days are numbered. What are you doing with your days? What are you doing to fulfill purpose, and not just be idle? I don’t care how big you sphere of influence is, the point is that you have one. So be responsible and do what you can. What is God telling you to do?
Go do it.
Forgive others.
Love everyone.
Tell your family and friends how much you appreciate and love them.
TODAY! Don’t wait.
And I get it. Times like this make it easy to want to push away from God. But you should do the opposite. This isn’t a time to question Him or isolate yourself. This is a time to lean in closer. Yes it can be confusing and just the scariness of the unknown is real. But God has peace and comfort available when it seems life makes no sense.
If you have lost a loved one recently, know that I’m praying for you and my heart goes out to you. Please keep the families of all of those affected by the helicopter crash in prayer this week and as often as you think about them.
Keep your crown up,
Felicia Morgan
